About 10 bikes left the Red Rocks Grill after Saturday Breakfast, headed to Mt. Evans....nice T-shirt weather until we got to the park entrance ($3.00/bike). Here we were told that a bike accident occurred 9 miles from the entrance. The road was in really poor shape at this location, at a amall rest area near a small lake...the rider was unconscious and was awaiting a helicopter. We had to stop at this location for a few minutes while they directed traffic. We never made it to the top; got caught in a nasty dark cloud full of thunder and soft pea-sized hail that covered 80% of the ground. We all flipped a 'Uey' and returned to Denver via Idaho Springs. Sunshine returned at the park entrance.. here are a few photos.
