coloradobeemers  > Rides > Ride to Genoa, CO 4 28 06
A saturday ride to the eastern plains of Colorado to the Tower tourist trap. A strange old building with many rooms crammed with artifacts of all kinds. BTW, if you go, be aware there are no facilities at this Disneyland of the grassland. No toilets you would let your ex use, no water, no pop machine, no gas in town, no nuttin. The ride was cooler and wetter than expected, giving a good adventure flavor to the day. Kidding aside, thanks Carl for a good time.

coloradobeemers > Kim tried this one on for size, but the wind was blowing the wrong way. Did you know it blows in Eastern Colorado? The wind, I mean. Its gale force as a matter of course, and often, like today, it blows much harder.
coloradobeemers > Well, here it is, the main feature...the tower was nothing if you didn't have this! Since the first one blew over, this one has been reinforced with a stout post and a pipe and a pile of rocks to keep it from leaving. Oh, and the nine hinges hold down what must have been a migrating door.
coloradobeemers > Anthony is SOOO happy! He found a real, genuine, honest injun Pet Rock!
coloradobeemers > Built in 1926, give or take a couple presidential terms, the old tower has seen better days. The white spots are snow/rain on the lens. Did you know it was blustery as all heck out there?
coloradobeemers > Andrew coming up the steep, tight stairs to the lookout platform at the top of the tower.
coloradobeemers > Another view of the "facilities". Apparently the lawn sprinkler didn't work on this zone.
coloradobeemers > The bikes from the top of the tower. If you look closely, you will see guys scrounging through their boxes looking for more warm clothing.
coloradobeemers > The view to the west during a lull between squalls. There are a few prairie schooners on I-70. No, don't adjust your set...there's nothing to see.
coloradobeemers > The view of beautiful down town Genoa. I guess the painting crew will be back on Monday to scrap off the over-paint on the windows...
