The ride to Riverside Wyoming this July 11-12, 2009 was great success.
Thanks to Bob Coen for organizing the event.
Approximately 25 riders made the wonderful trek through sparsely populated areas of Colorado and Wyoming under a big sky.
Riding the high desert is a treat viewing deer, antelope and even a Golden Eagle today on the return trip.
The riders pitched their tents alongside the Encampment River, or stayed in a quaint motel adjoining the campground. The lodging fees were very reasonable.
Some folks rode to Saratoga for a dip in the Hobo Thermal Pool and the adjacent Platte River while others rode Wyoming SR-70 up to Battle Pass, elevation 9955 ft on the Continental Divide to take in the views and ride the awesome sweepers.
Pat Bygott's fly fishing troupe provided dinner for those in Saratoga while the Mangy Moose Bar and Grill a stroll down the street served great Wyoming beef burgers and cold beer for those who stayed by the camp.
Afterward we all gathered round a blazing fire to enjoy a cool refreshment and tell tales into the wee hours.
A good time was had by all!
Many folks arrived early for breakfast before the ride.
